Top google search trend in India 2018

At the end of every calendar year, Google compiles a list of all the things that cyber surfers searched for throughout the year. The data is divided into nine categories – personalities, sports events, news, movies, songs, near me, how to, what is and overall. This reveals the five topmost searches in the ongoing year for each of the categories which is used to compare with the previous year data and provides an insight into interests of public.

Here’s what search engine  2018 was all about

Priya-Prakash

In the ‘personalities’ category, Priya Prakash Varrier, who became an overnight sensation in India after the release of a teaser clip of a song from her film ‘Our Adaar Love’ topped the list. Interestingly, the popularity of this 19-year-old Malayalam actress escalated the most this year that she even outnumbered Priyanka Chopra in terms of search trends in India. She was followed by the popular ‘Jealous’ American singer, Nick Jonas, who gained popularity in India after the news of his relationship with Priyanka Chopra went viral.

WHATSAPP STICKERS

Superstar Rajinikanth’s 2.0 outpaced all the other hits in the year 2018. The movie was in a buzz for long, prior to its release, but its popularity shot up sky-high after its release. Whatsapp’s newly introduced feature of stickers gained such an amazing response from the public that ‘How to send stickers on WhatsApp became the most trending search in ‘how to’ category. Talking about the ‘what is’ category, ‘what is section 377’ was the most hunted question on Google in India.

In the ‘sports event category, FIFA World Cup 2018, gained the highest fandom and maintained the top position even in the ‘overall’ category. Surprisingly, it even superseded the Indian cricket love for IPL. The love Indians carry for music is known worldwide and it is reflected in their searches as well. Neha Kakkar’s ‘Dilbar Dilbar’ became the year’s most searched song followed by the Punjabi hit ‘Daru Badnaam’ which rocked the dance floors and the Snapchat stories for the entire year. Last but not the least, in the ‘near me’ category, ‘mobile stores’ was the most typed question by the Indians.

URJIT PATEL’S RESIGNATION ITERATES RBI’S AUTONOMY

Dr. Urjit Patel, an economist of the highest order with deep and insightful knowledge of economic concepts, handled the Indian economy in the most sensitive times. Just after two months of his appointment in the office as an RBI Governor, the Indian economy witnessed a major change in its system with surprising demonetization in effect. But the way Dr. Urjit Patel handled the situation and brought the nation back to stability at the earliest is commendable. However, the sudden resignation of such a thorough professional has left the country in a state of deep despair, questioning the widening ties between the Central Government and the RBI.

A RIFT BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT AND THE RBI

After a scrappy clash between Narendra Modi-led government over the liquidity crunch in the economy, Dr. Urjit Patel resigned on Monday from his position with an immediate effect. Though Patel has cited personal reasons for vacating the office, given the recent controversies, it would not be wrong to assume that Patel withdrew when RBI’s autonomy faced pressures from the government. There was a range of issues related to liquidity, credit flow and controls governing weaker banks at which the views of the Government and the RBI clashed. However, the decision of the former governor to keep the repo rate unchanged came as a severe blow to the situation. The friction came to light when Viral Acharya, RBI Deputy governor, warned that threatening the central bank’s independence could be “catastrophic”. This was followed by Jaitley publicly attacking the central bank of sleeping on the job and for its failure to keep a check on the indiscriminate lending by public sector banks. However, matters worsened after the government issued three letters to Patel, threatening to invoke Section 7 of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. Unfortunately, this step came just 10 months ahead of the end of his term, indicating a rift between the Government and the RBI. This could trigger a major crisis in the country, disturbing the politico-economic atmosphere in the country.

ALL THAT HAPPENED AFTER PATEL’S RESIGNATION

RBI letter

Patel’s resignation had a critical effect on the market where the Rupee forwards posted their biggest daily slump in more than five years; the Sensex fell by approximately 750 points and closed at less than the 35,000 mark on Monday evening.

Former Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, expressed his concern on Patel’s resignation and said, “Urjit Patel’s sudden decision to step down is a severe blow to the economy. Patel’s sudden resignation, at a time when the Indian economy is faced with many headwinds, is very unfortunate and is a severe blow to the nation’s economy”.

On Tuesday, the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of Shaktikanta Das, former Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, as the governor of the Reserve Bank of India for a period of three years.

KNOW YOUR STATUS – WORLD AIDS DAY 2018

1 December 2018 marks the 30th anniversary of World AIDS Day.  Around 36.7 million people around the world are identified with this life-risking virus. Despite the virus being identified in 1984, more than 35 million people have succumbed to it, making it one of the most destructive diseases in history. World AIDS Day is vital because it reminds the public and Government that HIV has not gone away – there is still a need to prevent people from this dangerous virus.

About AIDS

AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome which is caused by the HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus). When the immune system of the human body becomes too weak to fight against the injections, the HIV affects the T-helper cells which we call white blood cells otherwise. Then, they start making copies of their cells inside the blood. A person infected by HIV finds it hard to fight against infections and diseases. There are three main stages of HIV infection: acute infection, clinical latency, and AIDS and it is transmitted by three major routes: sexual contact, exposure to infected body fluids or tissues, and from a mother to her child during pregnancy, delivery or breastfeeding which is known as vertical feeding. However, there is no risk of acquiring it through exposure to feces, nasal secretions, saliva, sputum, sweat, tears, urine, or vomit unless these are contaminated with blood.

WORLD AIDS DAY

Nowadays, with scientific successes, more than 6000 people in the UK are treated every year. However, people are still unaware of the ways to protect it and there still exists a stigma in the society for people living with the condition. Since 1988, there has been a significant change in the AIDS response and millions of people infected with HIV are leading healthy and productive lives. But we still have miles to go and a major challenge is the knowledge of HIV status. Many barriers to HIV testing still exist and as estimated, more than 9.4 million people hesitate from getting the test done. Stigma and discrimination deter people from taking the test. Most people get tested only after becoming ill and symptomatic which leads to HIV treatment being initiated late and undermines its many benefits for both treatment and prevention. At the same time, there are ample opportunities to expand access to HIV testing.

The need of the hour is to expand test programmes which means that sufficient knowledge must be imparted to the masses. For this, we require political will and investment, along with novel and innovative approaches to HIV testing that are fully leveraged and taken to scale. World AIDS Day is an opportunity to show solidarity with the millions of people living with HIV worldwide. The best way to observe this day is by creating an awareness among the people about AIDS and HIV which could be done by conducting programs or through social media. It is important that people understand the dangers of HIV. The best way to celebrate the Aids Day is by creating an awareness to the people about AIDS and HIV. The awareness can be created by conducting programs, by social media, etc. You can wear the Red Ribbon on AIDS day to spread awareness to the people, and you can give to your friends, Co-workers, and families. It’s vital that everyone understands the dangers of AIDS/HIV. People living with this need a lot of love and affection and by means should they be discriminated. Let’s all fight with AIDS, not people with AIDS.

Support AIDS awareness – World Aids Day!

Is your body ready for this festive season?

The festive season has kicked off, with Diwali just around the corner followed by wedding season, Christmas and finally New Year, we are surrounded by palatable and sumptuous eatables, including mithai, laddoos, pakoras and a lot more. It is extremely hard to resist such temptations especially when you are continually offered such scrumptious food.

Indian festive season is synonymous with colors, lights, parties, booze and most importantly ‘binge eating’. We indulge in this toothsome food because, let’s agree, Indian food is temptingly tasty!

We all tend to put on a few extra kilos, and later regret when we cannot shed them off as easily.

We bring to you some ideas to maintain your best health without missing the fun and merriment:

Increase fiber intake, add fruits and vegetables

Vegetables and Fruits

The best thing you can nourish your body with is fruits and vegetables this season. Adding amla, lemon, carrot, spinach, and tomatoes in your daily meals can make a huge difference when it comes to cleansing your body. These eatables are high on minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and low in fat and calories. Adequate fiber intake helps in regular and smooth bowel movements. So, if your stomach is healthy, you will be healthy and your skin will keep glowing.

Moderate eating and drinking

Drinking

During the festive season, you cannot always turn down a booze party and relish in delicious food, and an excessive amount puts our liver under pressure. We want our liver to be healthy to fully enjoy our festivals. The best you can do is drink enough water and eat something healthy before hitting a friend’s party as that will leave you feeling fuller and reduce your urge to consume more. Also, opt for smaller serving and keep sugar, fried food, white flour(miada), aerated drinks and soda intake to a bare minimum. These can lead to indigestion, breakouts, acne, dull skin and most importantly weight gain.

Stay hydrated, detoxify your system

Proper Hydration

Begin your day with a glass of lukewarm water with lemon juice in it and some honey, to rinse your body of all the toxins. Hot water and lemon are known to ease out bowel movements and accelerate the process of burning fat, hence keeping your body and skin healthy and supple. You can also opt for green tea or chamomile tea, as these have antioxidants and cleanses the system thoroughly.

Balance diet throughout your day

Balance Diet

In case you think that you should skip meals to balance your day, you’re dead wrong! Don’t even try fasting as this will have more negative than positive effects, and you will end up eating more than you wanted. Your breakfast should include whole grain roti or parantha, or poha along with fruits, precisely, you should start your day with a power-packed meal which is rich in carbohydrates, proteins, and other nutrients. Don’t go too harsh on your tummy by ending your day with a heavy meal. If you’ve had a heavy meal in the afternoon, then opt for a lighter dinner and vice-versa. Also, don’t put longer breaks between your meals. Keep having something light and healthy in between the meals, like dry fruits and healthy snacks.

Stay physically healthy

Healthy workout
Although, it sounds like a typical suggestion, try to keep your workout routine active. Go ahead with a 30 minutes rigorous workout routine, if not, then you can stick to yoga, or, at least spend around 30-40 minutes brisk walking. It will keep you active and also burn out extra calories daily and you will not have to worry much about putting on fat.

Last but not least, don’t forget to enjoy and sink into the festive vibe.

Wishing you a HAPPY AND HEALTHY  festive season.

This day is all about love, encompassing the immensely pure feelings that a brother and a sister share. It is one of the most unique festivals of India where a sister ties a sacred thread called ‘Rakhi’ on the wrist of her brother and in return, the brother promises to take care of her throughout life. Over the years, with more refined thinking worldwide, this festival has attained new dimensions. Not only does a brother-sister celebrate it, but even, a brother-brother and a sister-sister celebrate this day to mark the heavenly bond they share and swear to protect each other.

Let the Celebration Begin!

Bakrid Mubarak

It’s that time of the year again when Muslims across the globe would dress up in their finest clothes and come together to celebrate Bakrid. Bakrid or Eid-al-Adha, also known as ‘The Festival of Sacrifice’, is celebrated worldwide. This year, it began on the evening of August 21 and will continue till the evening of August 22. Eid al-Adha marks the final day of ‘Hajj’, which is an annual pilgrimage that all the Muslims are required to undertake to Makkah once in their lifetime. Some Muslims observe this Eid for three days.

The story behind the celebration of Bakrid

As for most of the festivals celebrated across the globe, there lies a story behind the celebration of Eid-al-Adha as well. The festival remembers the story of Prophet Abraham when Allah appeared in his dream and asked him to sacrifice his dearest son, Ismail, as an act of obedience to God. Next day, when he woke up in the morning, he took the dream as a message from God and wanted to sacrifice his son. As Abraham was about to kill his son, God sent his angels and asked him to sacrifice an animal instead of his son.

EID BAKRID

Every year, just before Eid-al-Adha, Muslims purchase animals to sacrifice. The animal is dearly treated, loved and fed till the day of sacrifice. On the day of Eid, Muslims worldwide sacrifice that animal in order to prove their devotion and love for Allah. A feast is prepared thereafter and the meat is then cooked and divided into three parts. One is for the family, friends, and neighbors, the second part is distributed among the poor and the needy and the remaining third part is retained for the immediate family. Also, it is a firm belief that on the day of the Sacrificial Feast, no one shall go hungry to the bed.

On this holy occasion, devotees offer prayers at the mosque after the sunrise. In several households, various delicacies and sweets are prepared to mark the celebration of this day. Some also visit cemeteries and pay respect to the dead.
