It is a news of great distress that our City Beautiful is slowly turning into the city of crimes. We keep hearing the sad news of the crimes being committed every day. Another crime incident happened in the tricity, last night. A Fortuner was robbed by two unidentified men from Kathgarh village, Dhakoli. The accused robbed the vehicle by keeping its driver at gunpoint.
The vehicle was parked in front of Westwood Resort when the robbers approached the car. A case was registered by the Dhakoli police against the two unidentified youths on the complaint of Trishal Chopra, a resident of sector 43, Chandigarh.
Chopra told the police that he visited the Westwood resort situated on the Zirakpur-Panchkula highway to attend a marriage function. As the parking of the resort was already full, the driver parked the vehicle on the road. While Chopra was attending the marriage function inside, his driver, Rahul waited in the car. While the driver was inside the car waiting for Chopra, two armed men approached him and pulled out a gun.
Modus Operandi
The Car owner in his complaint told the police that the incident took place around 10:30 pm. According to him, his driver Rahul was waiting inside the car when two armed men came and attacked him. The robbers opened the door of the Fortuner and wielded a pistol at him. One of them forcibly entered the Fortuner and hit the driver with the pointed object on his head and left him injured. The accused also snatched away the driver’s mobile phone and purse, pushed the driver out of the vehicle and drove away.
The Police Exertion!
The Zirakpur and Dhakoli Police reached the crime spot soon after the incident and started their investigation.
The police in charge of the Dhakoli police station stated that the police had procured the CCTV footage of nearby areas. The police will look into the footage to ascertain the sequence of events.
A Toyota Fortuner, driver’s mobile phone and purse were stolen.
