Panjab University (PU) is again the topic of debate and all for wrong reasons. It’s been less than a year that the Panjab University student council organized strike and road show against the University authorities to protest against the highly increased fee structure of various courses and now there is again a bad news for all the students pursuing their PG & UG courses from Chandigarh colleges under PU. The university has decided to hike the fee for the upcoming session i.e, 2018-2019 for various Post Graduate and Under Graduate courses in the city colleges. It is said that a total of 5% of the fee will be increased in all the courses in the new session beginning from 2018.
A proposal to revise the fee by 5% in the new session has been made to the syndicate. The proposal will be kept with the syndicate for the approval on December 10, 2017. It is now to be seen that in whose favor the Syndicate committee passes its resolution. If the proposal gets approved then all the students seeking admission in UG & PG courses of PU will have to pay more for their education.
PU- The Fee Hike for session 2018-2019
Panjab University is all set to increase its tuition fee by 5% in different colleges under PU. The university has also proposed a fee hike of 2 to 10% for the campus courses. The fee would increase for all the heads including tuition fee and examination fee as well.
Although the decision of the PU committee would require the approval of the Syndicate Committee. And after getting approval from the same, the proposal report will be forwarded to the Senate for final approval. The final decision of the committee regarding the fee hike will be released by December 16, 2017.
Present Annual Fee Structure: PU
Before this, a protest was held by students against the hike in the hostel fee of Panjab University. If the proposal gets approved there will now be a hike in the fee structure for Under Graduate as well as Post Graduate courses. The fee structure for various courses in colleges affiliated to PU is as follows:
- The present fee for BA Course at colleges under PU in Chandigarh is Rs. 11,350 & Rs. 13,470 respectively.
- The present fee for B.Com Course at colleges under PU in Chandigarh is Rs. 20,030.
- The present fee for B.Sc course at colleges under PU in Chandigarh is Rs. 14,830.
